Tenderfoot believe that the best music, speaks for itself. And, their soon to be released debut record does just that. With a nod to classic acts like The Band, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Ryan Adams; Tenderfoot have created a sound that is unaffected. Fusing their organic approach with modern influences like Coldplay has resulted in a debut record that is garnering strong early interest.
Tenderfoot are John Vella on guitar and vocals, Joel Burton on bass and Anthony Donlon on keys. On stage, the band is the real deal. The musicianship is world class, the chemistry infectious, and Vella’s voice remains original and centred.
Tenderfoot’s members are all accomplished in their own right. Bassist Joel Burton is one of Sydney’s most in demand session players. His skills have seen him open for many highly acclaimed artists, including John Legend, Roy Ayres, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and Jamie Liddell. As a freelance composer, Vella has written and produced pieces for QANTAS, Sydney Opera House, Telstra and Harley Davidson, among others.
When asked about their definitive style, keys player Donlon says ”There are so many great records from earlier periods of music, and that’s kind of been lost these days. Playing festivals with a laptop isn’t our thing. We stand for chemistry, it’s our favourite way to play.”
